This tool adds published wattage and compares the total against the capacity of the circuit you name. It does not guess at figures it cannot cite, it does not assume a rating you have not read off the breaker, and it stops at the point where the work belongs to a licensed electrician.

What not to do

- Do not bypass or defeat a breaker or a thermal protection device.
- If a breaker trips more than once, or anything feels warm, stop and contact a licensed electrician.

What it does not account for
- The individual model you own. Where a type figure exists it is the highest stated across the listings here, and where a listing states nothing this tool adds nothing.
- A refrigerator, a microwave, or anything else sharing the circuit, whose figures come from their own rating plates.
- Motor startup surges, which are brief and larger than the running figure.
- Anything plugged into the circuit outside this kitchen run, which the breaker label alone will not tell you.

What a circuit can carry
A receptacle in a United States kitchen supplies nominal 120 volts, and the breaker rating tells you the current the circuit is built to carry. Multiplying the two converts the rating into watts, which is the unit printed on an appliance rating plate.

Plug these appliances into the wall
Manufacturers of high-wattage countertop appliances instruct users to plug them directly into a wall receptacle. Extension cords, power strips, surge protectors, and outlet adapters are not intended for loads of this size, and a strip also hides the problem by making it easy to put three heating appliances on one receptacle without noticing.
When an outlet is in the wrong place, the answer is to move the appliance or to accept that the spot is not usable for that machine. If a run genuinely has no usable receptacle, that is a question for a licensed electrician.

When you do not know the rating
The rating is printed on the handle of the breaker in your panel. Reading the label is fine. Working out which receptacles belong to which breaker by switching breakers off is a different activity, and this site does not walk anyone through it. Choose Not sure in the tool and it will decline to compare rather than invent a number.
Before you act on any of this
- This tool is arithmetic, not electrical advice. It does not tell you how to modify wiring, replace a breaker, add a receptacle, or determine which outlets share a circuit.
- Plug high-wattage countertop appliances directly into a wall outlet. Do not use extension cords, power strips, surge protectors, or outlet adapters with them.
- A breaker that trips repeatedly, a warm cord, or a warm faceplate is a licensed electrician question, not a scheduling question.
- Never bypass or defeat a breaker, a fuse, or a thermal protection device.
- Wattage figures here come only from listings that state one. Read the rating plate on your own appliance for the number that applies to it.
