Every machine on a kitchen counter is renting space from every other one, and the rent is paid in inches and watts. This site measures both: what each appliance type costs on the run, what it earns that space for, what it quietly duplicates, and where the circuit runs out before the counter does.

You have upper cabinets over this run, so height decides as much as width. Check the assembled height and the clearance the manufacturer publishes for each model before committing to a spot.
Exact dimensions and the required clearance come from the manual for the specific model you buy. This plan uses the upper end of the published width range for each appliance type and a 2 in working gap so you can reach between machines. A working gap is not a manufacturer clearance figure; if your model requires more, add the difference.
The formula
required = sum of body widths + (2 in working gap x number of appliances)

What it does not account for
- Manufacturer clearance for your model, which is additional and is published in the manual.
- Height, cabinet depth, and whether a lid or door can open in place.
- Cord length and where the receptacle actually sits on the run.
- The width of the specific model you buy, which may differ from the upper end of the range used here.

Power before purchase
A 15-amp circuit at 120 volts carries 1,800 watts, and a 20-amp circuit carries 2,400. A 1,725 W air fryer and a 900 W toaster together ask for 2,625 W, which is why that particular pair trips breakers on weekday mornings. The arithmetic is short, and doing it before you buy is cheaper than doing it afterward.
High-wattage countertop appliances are plugged directly into a wall outlet. Manufacturers specifically exclude extension cords, power strips, surge protectors, and outlet adapters, and a strip also hides how much you have put on one receptacle.
If a breaker trips more than once, that is a licensed electrician question rather than a rearrangement problem.

Five kitchens
The same appliance is a good decision in one room and a bad one in another. Each page starts from the run and the outlets rather than from the product.
Small Apartment Galley Kitchen
- Free run
- Typically 24 to 36 inches of genuinely free run, in one segment.
- Outlets
- Usually two receptacles on the free run, and there is a fair chance they share one circuit with the rest of the kitchen counter.
A galley kitchen puts two runs facing each other with a walkway between them, and in an apartment one of those runs is usually consumed by the sink and the cooktop.
Family Kitchen
- Free run
- Often 48 to 72 inches free, though usually broken into two or three segments.
- Outlets
- Three or more receptacles is common, and they may not all be on the same circuit. The panel label is the only thing that tells you.
A family kitchen usually has enough counter to make the space question feel solved, and then loses it to volume: a coffee setup, a bread bin, a knife block, a fruit bowl, and school-morning traffic through the same three feet.
RV and Camper Galley
- Free run
- Often 12 to 24 inches free, sometimes only the sink cover.
- Outlets
- One or two receptacles in the galley, and the supply for the whole rig is limited in a way a house is not. What is available depends on the pedestal, the generator, or the inverter.
An RV galley has less counter than any apartment and an electrical supply that changes depending on where you parked.
Dorm Room or Office Kitchenette
- Free run
- Often 18 to 30 inches shared between everyone who uses the room.
- Outlets
- Usually one or two receptacles, shared with a microwave and sometimes a fridge that must never be unplugged.
A dorm or office kitchenette is a counter someone else administers.
The One Outlet Run
- Free run
- Frequently 36 to 60 inches free, all of it served by one receptacle.
- Outlets
- One receptacle, typically two sockets, and no way to know what else shares the circuit without reading the panel label.
Some kitchens have a generous stretch of counter served by a single receptacle.

How this site is written
Nothing here is tested. There is no lab, no stopwatch, and no claim that one machine browns better than another because someone cooked with both. Product specifications are quoted from the seller listing and attributed as such, and where a listing states no wattage this site records none rather than estimating one.
Clearance figures are never published here. They are model specific, they belong to the manufacturer, and the only correct source is the manual for the unit you own. The same applies to dishwasher-safe status, which is granted per part rather than per appliance.
The electrical pages are arithmetic and nothing more. This site does not advise on wiring, breakers, or receptacles, and it treats a repeatedly tripping breaker as a question for a licensed electrician. Coating claims such as PFAS-free or ceramic are reported as statements from the listing, and no product here is ranked by coating safety.
