Why some parts are hand wash even when they could survive a cycle
A dishwasher combines heat, extended wet time, and detergents built to be aggressive. Plastics can cloud and warp, gaskets can lose their seal, and coatings wear faster than they would under a sponge. A part can be permitted in a dishwasher and still last considerably longer if it is washed by hand, which is why some manuals permit the cycle and recommend against it in the same paragraph.
